Aerial photography from
three locations yesterday afternoon, focussing on The Ayres. This
is apparently the newest part of the Isle of Man at around 5,000 years
old, band is technically known as a 'raised beach', indeed from Blue Point
you can see the old cliff line running inland. It is an area of grass
covered duneland and designated as a nature reserve. DJI Phantom

These pictures were
'Plan B' from yesterday afternoon. 'Plan A' had been to walk around
Sartfell to Glion Kiark for some ground level and aerial photography, but
the cloud was sitting on the upper slopes of the hill and producing some
light rain so I continued on the coast at Lhiannag, still a bit grey there
but at least no rain. I walked down to the beach for some pictures
of the rocks at low tide, then some aerial pictures from the tops.
I've started with an aerial Panorama though, to give an overall picture
of the area. Panasonic TZ200 & DJI Spark 13/6/19
Down at beach level.
Some wild flower close
up pictures from the walk back up from the beach.
Taking a camera into
the air for some shots you just can't get from ground level.
Finally, just a couple
of pictures on the walk back to the main road.

Braddan old church and
the Celtic crosses inside. The present day building dates from 1773
although it is believed that parts of the structre were from the older
church built in the 12th centure on an even older Keeil site. Inside
there are preserved Celtic crosses dating from 600 to 1265 AD. The
church was replaced by the current Braddan church (just across the road)
in around 1876. Panasonic TZ200 26/6/19

A ground level panorama
taken from the edge of Chibbanagh Plantation at Braaid, looking across
the central valley of the Isle of Man. This view is said to have
inspired the painter John Martin, for his huge 'Plains
of Heaven' work exhibited in the Tate Gallery, London. Martin
lived the latter part of his life in the Isle of Man and died here in 1854
and is buried in Braddan Old Church Cemetary.
